英语演讲短作文篇1

we live in the world every day. we eat food, drink water, wear clothes, watch tv, use computers and so on. we are producing waste every moment.

generally speaking, there are four sorts of waste. they are material waste, organic waste, inorganic waste and poisonous & harmful waste. now, we are going to talk about each sort of waste one by one.

material waste: it means the waste of substance or things from which something else can be made. for example, people throw away the used metal products and buy a new one, so the old metal waste accumulates. at last, they become waste. for example, when people finish reading newspaper, the paper will become waste. when the glass is broken, it also becomes waste. nobody wants to use a broken window or drink with a broken glass or wear a pair of broken glasses. once it is broken, it becomes waste. the rate of using plastics is increasing day by day. people use plastic bags because they are convenient. when they get home, they throw the plastics way, paying no attention to the environment. the more convenience plastics brings to us, the more plastic waste is produced. this is called “white pollution” as most plastics are white. some of our products we use every day are made of rubber, just like the tyres and the bottom part of our shoes. it’s true that rubber plays an important role in our life. however, it also brings us some trouble when it has been used for a long time and becomes old. the old tyres become waste because it can’t break down by nature. this is really a big problem.

英语演讲短作文篇2

ladies and gentlemen, this is joe biden, i'm filling in for president obama, while he addresses the nato summit in wales.

when the president and i took office in january of , this nation was in the midst of the greatest economic crisis since the great depression. our economy had plummeted1 at a rate of 8% in a single quarter-part of the fastest economic decline any time in the last half century. millions of families were falling underwater on their homes and threatened with foreclosure. the iconic american automobile2 industry was under siege.

but yesterday's jobs report was another reminder3 of how far we've come. we've had 54 straight months of job creation. and that's the longest streak4 of uninterrupted job growth in the united states' history.

we've gone from losing 9 million jobs during the financial crisis to creating 10 million jobs. we've reduced the unemployment rate from 10% in october of to 6.1% today. and for the first time since the 1990s, american manufacturing is steadily5 adding jobs-over 700,000 since . and surveys of both american and foreign business leaders confirm that america once again is viewed as the best place in the world to build and invest.

that's all good news.

but an awful lot of middle class americans are still not feeling the effects of this recovery. since the year , gross domestic product-our gdp - has risen by 25%. and productivity in america is up by 30%. but middle class wages during that same time period have gone up by only fourteen cents.

folks, it's long past time to cut the middle class back into the deal, so they can benefit from the economic growth they helped create. folks, there used to be a bargain in this country supported by democrats6 and republicans, business and labor7. the bargain was simple. if an employee contributed to the growth and profitability of the company, they got to share in the profits and the benefits as well. that's what built the middle class. it's time to restore the bargain, to deal the middle class back in. because, folks, when the middle class does well, everybody does well-the wealthy get wealthier and the poor have a way up.

you know, the middle class is not a number. it's a value set. it means being able to own your home; raise your children in a safe neighborhood; send them to a good school where if they do well they can qualify to go to college and if they get accepted you'd be able to find a way to be able to send them to college. and in the meantime, if your parents need help, being able to take care of them, and hope to put aside enough money so that your children will not have to take care of you.

英语演讲短作文篇3

and how fortunate we are indeed to live in the most diverse, dynamic and beautiful state in the entire union. you know, from the south bronx to the southern tier, from brooklyn to buffalo, from montauk to massena, from the world's tallest skyscrapers to breathtaking mountain ranges, i've met people whose faces and stories i will never forget. thousands of new yorkers from all 62 counties welcomed to me into your schools, your local diners, your factory floors, your living rooms and front porches. you taught me, you tested me and you shared with me your challenges and concerns - about overcrowded or crumbling schools, about the struggle to care for growing children and aging parents, about the continuing challenge of providing equal opportunity for all and about children moving away from their home towns because good jobs are so hard to find in upstate new york. now i've worked on issues like these for a long time, some of them for 30 years, and i am determined to make a difference for all of you.

you see, i believe our nation owes every responsible citizen and every responsible family the tools that they need to make the most of their own lives. that's the basic bargain. i'll do my best to honor in the united states senate.

and to those of you who did not support me, i want you to know that i will work in the senate for you and for all new yorkers. and to those of you who worked so hard and never lost faith even in the toughest times, i offer you my undying gratitude.

英语演讲短作文篇4

honorable judges, fellow students:

good afternoon!

recently, there is a heated debate in our society. the college students are the beneficiaries of a rare privilege, who receive exceptional education at extraordinary places. but will we be able to face the challenge and support ourselves against all odds? will we be able to better the lives of others? will we be able to accept the responsibility of building the future of our country?

the cynics say the college students are the pampered lost generation, which would cringe at the slightest discomfort. but the cynics are wrong. the college students i see are eagerly learning about how to live independently. we help each other clean the dormitory, go shopping and bargain together, and take part time jobs to supplement our pocket money.

the cynics say we care for nothing other than grades; and we neglect the need for character cultivation. but again, the cynics are wrong. we care deeply for each other, we cherish freedom, we treasure justice, and we seek truth.

英语演讲短作文篇5

good morning ladies and gentleman. my name is miller. i’d like to talk to you today about the topic of traffic jams in shanghai. the purpose of this talk is to analysis the problem of traffic jams and try to make some advices in my view. i shall only take about four minutes of your times. i’ve divided my presentation into three parts.

first. status. yesterday, i went to xujiahui. i start my route at 1:00pm. when i arrived home, it was 8:00pm. i only use nearly 3 hours on shopping. that means i almost waste 4 hours on the way. that is the traffic jams status in shanghai.

second. reasons. i found that the traffic management is the most serious problem in the traffic system. in some important crossroads, there are no enough traffic police to do the traffic grooming. it’s irrational. we paid so much taxes, but we cannot comfort what we should get. for example, on the overhead, two cars had made a traffic accident. this leaded the traffic jams. we had not see the traffic police from start to end. it took me nearly 10 minutes on the overhead. it was happened yesterday.

third. to solve it. what i can advice is just add more traffic polices in the important crossroads. it’s the most useful way to solve the traffic jams. because yesterday when we nearly went out the overhead, the speed was increased obviously. we found several traffic polices in the crossroad. they commanded cars and then the traffic went well.

that brings me to the end of my presentation. let me just run over the key points again. traffic jams was made by several resources. to solve it, we can depend on the traffic police. but for ourselves, to drive more carefully, more reasonably, maybe is another way to decrease the traffic jams.

thank you for your attention. any questions?

how to reduce the city present population?

our modern city is too crowded, and to solve the problem, three proposals are put forward. most people believe that we should fist practise the policy late marriage and one couple, one child in order to reduce the birth rate. secondly, the city government must have a tight control over rural people entering cities to engage themselves in trade or do various physical jobs so as to lessen the pressure on the city caused by the increased population. finally more and more people suggest that living blocks with shopping centers, schools, hospitals as well as cinemas and theatres round them or even satellite towns should be built in city suburbs or the countryside round the cities. in this way city citizens will be encouraged to move there to live and work. if these three proposals are well carried out, the city population will be greatly reduced.
